I make music as a form of meditation and healing, and I share it via recordings with the hope of remotely facilitating similar interventions. In my educational work, I aim to design experiences where expression and creativity naturally flourish. I promote practices of healing and transformation through compassionate, trauma-informed guidance.


Nicholas Patrick Quigley (he/they) teaches elementary general music in Randolph, Massachusetts. Their praxis empowers expressiveness and creativity, while critically addressing social and climate issues. Quigley has presented and published research on expressive and creative arts practices in general music, early-career music educators, and DIY musicians’ music education experiences. Publications have appeared in Massachusetts Music Educators Journal, Teaching Music, and the Journal of Popular Music Education.

Prior to joining the Randolph Public Schools, Quigley worked with students across the K–12 spectrum in various settings; including the UMass Lowell String Project, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras, Somerville (MA) Public Schools, and Fall River (MA) Public Schools. While teaching in Fall River, he served beyond the classroom as a member of the district’s Diversity and Equity Joint Labor-Management Committee, and as a member of the Fall River Educators Association Board of Directors. Quigley currently serves as a Co-Organizer and Expressive Arts Facilitator for the Play On Music Festival.

As a composer and producer, Quigley has released six albums. The press has labeled his music “daring,” “satisfying,” “vibrant, and sometimes quite surprising.” Recent compositions have incorporated soundscapes and generative elements. Their music has been recorded by artists of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and Granite to Glass, among others.

Quigley is a graduate of University of Massachusetts Lowell (BM, Music Business) and Boston University (MM, Music Education). Dedicated to making his teaching and living more compassionate and sustainable, he is currently studying towards a CAGS in Professional Applications of the Expressive and Creative Arts at Salve Regina University.
