Interventions 6 – 10
Building off the “gallery exhibition” of 1 – 5, Interventions 6 – 10 includes digitally-synthesized sounds and environmental soundscapes to attract listeners to imagined spaces. ‘Interventions’ are still composed to make statements efficiently, with three works for solo instruments, and multiple 'episodes' lasting no more than a few minutes. Brief ‘interludes’ present and reflect on musical ideas in contrasting manners, and most obviously highlight the dichotomy of natural and synthesized “spaces.” The experience includes works for environments and euphonium; viola then piano; synthesizers and voice; synthesizers; viola, metronomes and tuners; solo synthesizer; and solo viola.
